Commonwealth Games is a sporting event involving athletes of the member countries of the Commonwealth organisation. These games take place every four years and each time a member country becomes the host. In the year of 2010 the duty to host commonwealth games same on the shoulders of India. Hence, India Post released series of stamps to commemorate the event.The stamps come in the denominations of Rs.5 and Rs.20 featuring the mascot of the event as well as human figures shown playing games that chiefly played in the event. The stamp with higher value of Rs.20 features a hand holding the Ceremonial Torch and the running Lion – the mascot of the event.
Other stamps primarily depict the mascot as well as human figures playing games on the red background along with the logo. The stamps also bear the writings and year of the issue both in Hindi and English.
